AYANWORKS won “FIDO Developer Challenge 2022 - India: Go Passwordless with FIDO Authentication”

We at AYANWORKS, have always been moved by challenging ourselves with the complex problems in the Blockchain space, be it exploring & evaluating new stacks, contributing to complex open source projects, taking challenges head on to build solutions for, participating in the hackathons to build solutions with cutting edge technologies. Continuing with this DNA, AYANWORKS team participated in the ‘FIDO Developer Challenge 2022 — India’ hackathon event. Theme for this challenge was ‘Go Passwordless with FIDO Authentication’. We are thrilled to announce that AYANWORKS has made it to the top 3 finalists in the challenge. We are honoured to be recognised for our innovative work in the field of digital identity and verifiable credential management (see official announcement from FIDO Alliance). 

Demo Day

The final demo and awards event was held at the Samsung Research Institute in Noida and it provided us with a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with various individuals and developers in the field. It was an great platform for us to showcase our SSI (Self-Sovereign Identity) mobile wallet app, powered by FIDO Passkeys, which stores user’s credentials securely using advanced cryptography, thus preserving the privacy of the individual and the data in her wallet. As they call — ‘Privacy-by-Design’ and ‘Privacy-by-Default’.

Our team worked tirelessly to develop the solution that is not only secure but also user-friendly and easy to use, making it accessible to everyone. We believe that digital decentralised identity and cryptographically signed & digitally verifiable credential management is an important step towards a more secure and reliable internet ecosystem. Our SSI mobile wallet app, implements the authentication method using FIDO Passkeys, provides a solution to some of the most significant challenges faced in the space today, such as security vulnerabilities and data breaches.

Why Passwordless?

Cybercrime damages the world economy $2.9 million every minute, with 80% of cyberattacks targeting passwords. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has warned that online users in the country are being targeted by phishing scams, which involve an attacker fooling a victim into clicking malicious links in order to steal sensitive data like passwords, login information, and One Time Passwords (OTP). In India, the National Crime Record Bureau reported 4,047 cases of online banking fraud in 2020, with 1,093 of those cases involving OTPs. The recent global epidemic has increased enterprises’ readiness to adopt password-less FIDO Authentication, making it easier to solve than ever before thanks to the rising number of devices supporting FIDO and the availability of a public WebAuthn API.
